Meh Tempeh

So I have seen Tempeh in the store, read about others making it, and thought I should try it. I bought some wild rice tempeh and fried it up in a little oil and soy sauce and then stirred in some veggies as I normally would do with tofu. I really liked the texture of tempeh <-it’s not as soft as tofu and it more “meat-like” but I couldn’t deal with the aftertaste. It was almost bitter or musty. On a forum I found lots of people suggested poaching the tempeh in vegetable broth before frying or baking and its so much better. BUT I am wondering if that would change the strong after taste? If anyone has any experience with tempeh and wants to help me out that would be amazing. Anyhow, heres my dinner from last night.

It looks great, I KNOW, and I didn’t want to waste it so I did eat it all. I just wasn’t that pleased with the tempeh. So unless I find another cooking method to use for the other half, that makes me love tempeh I probably won’t buy it again. It is more expensive than tofu anyway!
